August 28th - 29th, 2010
Montmagny, QC to Rivière-du-Loup, QC
What would one consider to be the absolute best cycling conditions in the world?
Well for starters you would need:
- Sunshine (but not too hot)
- Tail wind (but not strong enough to create dust)
- Beautiful, changing scenery
- No traffic
- Nice people
Joie de vivre À Québec!
Lunch stop in Kamarouska
We ended up at our campsite before 3pm, record timing for a 120 km day! The only eerie thing about Rivière-du-Loup was the changing leaves. Our campground was littered with fallen leaves - it smelled, looked, and even sounded like fall with the wind rustling through the trees.
Lois! Are those autumn leaves next to you!?
The next day, we had scheduled as a day off so we headed into town. First we went to look at “les chutes”, then we hit the streets of Rivière-du-Loup and ended up getting some ridiculously delicious (and pricey) cheese from a little charcuterie shop.
Les Chutes en Rivière-du-Loup
A..."beautiful"...monument?
And two beautiful models.
Hiking with Mary
Lisa went whale watching in the afternoon and said it was absolutely amazing. She saw all sorts of whales like minke, humpback, finback, beluga, etc!! Mom and I hung out in a little trendy resto for the afternoon getting caught up. All in all, it was the most restful of our days off in quite a while. Sadly, this was our last day off of the trip!
Baleine!
Sunset on the Fleuve St Laurent. Unbeatable.
